The Story of Peanut Butter
Have you ever wondered how Peanut Butter has evolved over time?
Read on to discover an amazing history you may not have known.
The Aztecs mashed roasted peanuts into a paste, somewhat different from what we know of as peanut butter today.
In their travels to the Americans, the Spanish and Portuguese explores, or conquistadors as they were more commonly known, came across the peanut and brought it back to Spain around 1523. From here traders and explores spread thus humble legume throughout Europe, Asia and Africa.
Africans introduced the peanut to North America as early as the 1700’s. However, it was not until 1884 that Marcellus Gilmore Edson, a Canadian living in Montreal, patented a method of making a smooth consistent butter-like concoction by milling roasted peanuts into a semi fluid state. Thus peanut butter was born and the world has grown a lot nutter ever since.
In late 2017, The Peanut Butter Bar opened their doors in iconic Leichhardt on a mission to take your love for peanut butter way beyond the jar. The Peanut Butter Bar introduced the world’s FIRST peanut butter tap – transforming this natural, humble nutty spread into an endless stream of delicious liquid gold.
The DRIZZLE was born, and life for peanut butter lovers has never been the same. The obsession now spreads far beyond a smear on toast – the nutty goodness is poured all over your favourite dishes,
tantalising your taste buds and warming your souls.
The rest is history & the future is looking even ‘nuttier’…
